- Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup Maida / all purpose flour
- 1/2 to 3/4 tbsp Cocoa powder
- 3/4 to 1 cup Sugar – (use more if you like it sweeter)
- 1/4 cup Ghee
Instructions:
- Grease a tray with ghee and keep it ready.
- Heat ghee in a pan.
- Wait till the ghee melts and is sufficiently hot.
- Add the maida and cocoa powder in it.
- Stir well to combine everything together well.
- Saute the mixture for 4-5 minutes. Remove it on a plate.
- Add the sugar in another heavy bottom pan.
- Add little water sufficient to immerse the sugar in it.
- Heat and let the sugar dissolve and boil.
- Boil to form a single string consistency.
- That is take a small drop of the syrup between your fingers , a single string should form when you pull your finger apart.
- Remove from flame.
- Add the cooked maida – cocoa powder mixture.
- Stir with a spoon to mix it uniformly.
- Keep stirring with the spoon till the mixture thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan.
- It does not stick to the pan anymore.
- Pour (place)the mixture on the greased plate.
- Spread and smoothen with the spoon.
- (mine turned a little hard before I could smoothen, so can see the rough surface)
- Allow this to set for 5 minutes.
- Using a sharp knife, cut into squares or diamonds.
- When it completely sets, tilt the plate slightly to separate the pieces.
- Store in a air tight container.
